"If you talk to animals, they will talk with you and you will know each other. If you do not talk to them you will not know them, and what you do not know you will fear. What one fears one destroys." Chief Dan George

It isn't really surprising that when it was time to choose an "on-line" name that I should choose "CrowTalker" or that "As a Crow Flies" should be the name I picked for my personal web site.

Crows have been a special interest of mine all my life - from my childhood when I learned to know them as individuals from my father. He taught me that they have a "language" that a person can begin to understand if they take the time to observe and even interact with the local crow population.

Nearly everywhere I havae lived, I have taken the time to intorduce myself to the local crow family. Even now in my 70's I have become acquainted with a family group that comes by daily on its "rounds".

Crows generally mate for life and live in family groups - especially during the nesting season and the time spent raising the new fleglings.

This site, about research done in the Ithica, NY area, contains interesting information about their habits. The Secret Lives of Crows

Crows is another good place to look.

An excellent place to learn about the life of crows and how they interact with each other is The Language and Culture of Crows. This site also has some "Crow Art" that is very beautiful to look at even if you don't intend to buy anything.
